Our Mission

Although there are thousands of scholarships for high school seniors to explore, Be The Change Foundation strives to create a more personal connection with students in the community. Understanding the importance of mentorship and giving back led Kenneth Givens and Randy LaMons to create the Be The Change Foundation. Our founders, alongside a group of others, are deeply connected to the city of Grovetown. It is our mission to encourage the next generation to be proactive when they want to see change in their community.

Meet the Founders

Kenneth Givens

Kenneth Givens graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at Grovetown High School in 2011. He went on the graduate top of his college at Georgia Southern University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He currently resides in Columbia, South Carolina where he is a project manager over $15 million plus in construction projects. He also leads the philanthropic efforts of his company's southeast offices.

Kenneth takes great pride in working with the community, including coaching baseball for Columbia County and Baseball for Austism while attending GTHS. His goal through Be The Change Foundation is to empower students and make sure they understand that the sky is absolutely the only limit they should consider in life.

Randy LaMons

Randy LaMons graduated from Grovetown High School in 2011, where he participated in varsity basketball and was a part of the region-winning men's track team. He went on to graduate from Georgia Southern University in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Augusta University and is also a certified personal trainer.

Randy strives to become a notable leader in the Grovetown community through philanthropy and mentorship to the next generation; not only through Be The Change Foundation, but also training young athletes in the area.

Community Involvement

The definition of community is a group of people who live in the same place or that share a particular characteristic in common. We grew up in the Grovetown and Harlem community and though we have traveled around, moved, and went off to college, nothing feels like home more than when we come back to that community that raised us. There is a sense of pride when we see students from Harlem and Grovetown succeed as players and coaches in athletics, or as students in academics, or better yet, as pillars in our community.

We founded the Be the Change Foundation not only to encourage young community leaders to be the change they want to see in the world, but also so we could share with them our experiences through mentorship. We want to lead by example; get out into the community and show how important it is to be engaged while simultaneously showing that we are just two normal citizens who grew up in this community and anyone of these young community leaders can make the same impact.
